Hi gang...

Exhaustive research has been done. After repeated issues with Windows 7, I am forever more sticking with CentOS. Its a far better OS than anything MicroCrap puts out.

Ok question time

I am trying to get the WebCam on my Alienware M15x working. I am kinda confused about the WebCam and which driver to use on Centos 5.3 2.6.18-164.11.1.el5.centos.plus.

1. I have ECHI module loaded and dmesg shows the following:

uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device Alienware Integrated Webcam (152d:0770)
uvcvideo: Failed to query (135) UVC control 1 (unit 0) : -32 (exp. 26).
input: Alienware Integrated Webcam as /class/input/input4
usbcore: registered new driver uvcvideo
USB Video Class driver (v0.1.0)
GSI 22 sharing vector 0x5A and IRQ 22

2. Further evidence shows the devices listing for the WebCam (its an integrated webcam by the way) and the Video module is loaded:
[root@torden20 usbvideo]# lsmod | grep video
video 53197 0
backlight 39873 1 video
uvcvideo 87560 0
compat_ioctl32 41793 1 uvcvideo
videodev 58689 1 uvcvideo
v4l1_compat 44613 2 uvcvideo,videodev
v4l2_common 57153 3 uvcvideo,compat_ioctl32,videodev

3. My video is not coming up nor can I use my integrated microphone.

Am I missing something here?

Thanks in advance gang!!

Welcome to the CentOS fora.

Please familiarise yourself with the ELRepo project and then see if your WebCam issue is solved by using the kernel independent, kABI tracking, kmod-video4linux package which can be obtained from that repository.
